Finally! Spring has decided to show up. Well, at least I think it has. The weeds are sprouting all over the yard in an attempt to pull me out of the winter hibernation of yard work. But to quote our founding fathers…”I will not go quietly into that good night”. As soon as I cut the grass for the first time the battle begins. Don’t get me wrong I love working outside. It’s the cutting grass that I hate. I should start a collection to Astroturf the whole yard. On the other hand I soon get to start my garden. Now that’s something I can really get into. I love to watch it grow. There are not too many things more satisfying than watching that first sprout turn into a delicious meal. This year we are planning to change the crops just a little. More tomatoes and less cucumbers. More peppers and less watermelons. We also added some fruit trees this winter and they have already started to bud. I don’t expect any fruit this year but it should be a good growing season. The grapes and strawberries should be just enough to pick a few when the family is outside playing.
Spring reminds me of renewal. The plants sprout and the trees bud. The flowers emerge from their winter slumber to add color and texture to our lives the same way that Jesus Christ emerged from the tomb to give us life. His resurrection conquered death and gives us hope. May you have a wonderful Easter and may you find the love of Jesus sprouting anew in your life.
This contest has been extended until April 15th, 2010.
Mary Kay Cosmetics, which my wife sells, actually has a men’s line. To be honest, I wasn’t fond of the idea of trying the men’s products but as in most marriages, it doesn’t really matter what I think. But, if she likes the way I smell, then I’ll wear anything. Heck, I’d wear motor oil if it caught her attention. Over the years, I have used several different colognes. A couple of years ago she asked me to try Velocity for Men. I would have never picked up a Mary Kay catalog to search for a cologne for myself but if you’re willing to swim upstream a little (or go against the current…my wife made me add that), I think you’ll find the Mary Kay products for men are better than you expect. And, men, they are packaged with you in mind. I haven’t seen a pink bottle (Mary Kay’s signature) yet.
One of the products that I think is handy in trying to squeeze in gym time between home life and work life is the body and hair wash. Everything you need is in one bottle…shampoo and body wash with a scent that doesn’t overpower but allows you to leave straight from the gym for a night out on the town. Mary Kay also has a men’s facial bar, which I can’t promise will make you look any better, but it is good for daily face washing.
All of that being said, here is what I am giving away.
MKMen® Face Bar “Give him a fresh start with the face bar that cleans and buffs skin as it begins the process to help reduce the visible signs of aging. Skin is left smooth and healthy-looking.”
NEW! Limited-Edition Men’s Fine Fragrance Body and Hair Shampoo,
MK High Intensity™ “A body wash, shampoo and fragrance all in one! The limited-edition Men’s Fragrance Body and Hair Shampoo in MK High Intensity™ cleanses hair and skin, leaving a subtle ambery oriental fragrance.”

Today we officially became chicken farmers. Ok…well if 2 means a flock then we are in. We made a trip to Clanton to meet with the owners of Triple W Yardbirds. They set us up with two beautiful “girls”. We built a coop and run and they have settled down quite nicely. We should be picking up eggs any day now. Thanks again to Triple W Yardbirds. If you are interested in some top quality fertilized eggs, chicks, hens or roosters at a reasonable price then you definitely need to look them up. They have the hard to find breeds and they certainly know chickens. I’m headed off to buy some overalls.
See ya’…Somewhere in the middle.
Thanks to everyone who has commented and signed up for the giveaway. Best of luck to everyone. At present I am sending out a lot of request for bigger and better prizes for the giveaways. Because I am a new site and my following is relatively small I am getting more rejections that companies accepting. For the companies that you do see on my site please take time to follow their links and support them if you can. I appreciate the companies, and you, for taking a chance on me. Sometimes we all get a little too big for our britches. It’s good to know some people remember where they came from. I am just as guilty as anyone else. That is until my little girl climbs up in my lap, lays her head on my chest and then quietly whispers…”da, da,…I poo poo”. Just like Icarus my wings melt and I come tumbling down.
Anyway, thanks again. Please refer your friends to sign up as well. The more people we have following the better the giveaways become.
Have a great day and I’ll see you…somewhere in the middle.
I hope everyone is finding the site easy to use. I am actually surprised to see that I had as many hits as I did in the first day. I had time to look at the site today as I was sitting in the lobby of our local tire store. I knew that I needed to get some tires but had planned to do it next month. I guess I needed them more than I realized. A side wall blow out at about 60 mph and a flat spare sent me in an unplanned direction today. But some of the best adventures in life start off on a side road. Or as Walden put it…”a road less traveled”. So the chicken coop I was planning on working on today got put off until another day. No hurry though…there’s a “clucker” born every minute. (corny, I know).
We’ve got some things working and hopefully I will be able to host more giveaways soon. Maybe I should have contacted “Fix-a-Flat”. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Don’t forget to love on the kids.
To kick this blog off, I am offering 1 G4D reader a $25.00 Lowe’s Gift Card. This giveaway is open to US residents only and the deadline to enter is March 15, 2010. The winner will be selected using random.org.

Thanks for visiting Giveaways 4 Dad. Good luck!
So, my wife has had Giveaways 4 Mommy up and running for several months now. Her blog seems to be doing well. And, after much consideration and prodding from my wife I have decide to start a blog. The question at hand is what to write. Do I have anything to say? Who would want to read it anyway? I have never considered myself one who would blog but then again…why not? I do enjoy writing but up until now it has been confined to notebooks and some ancient files on a computer to which I have long ago forgotten the password. My wife seems to think that I am full of…”creative ideas”. I would like to think of it as an expressive thinking.
That being said, I am open to product reviews and giveaways of any kind that are of interest to men and/or dads. If you are interested in requesting a review or my hosting a giveaway for your product(s), store or company on my blog, please contact me at: giveaways4dad (at) gmail (dot) com.
