Spring

Finally!  Spring has decided to show up.  Well, at least I think it has.  The weeds are sprouting all over the yard in an attempt to pull me out of the winter hibernation of yard work.  But to quote our founding fathers…”I will not go quietly into that good night”.  As soon as I cut the grass for the first time the battle begins.  Don’t get me wrong I love working outside.  It’s the cutting grass that I hate.  I should start a collection to Astroturf the whole yard.  On the other hand I soon get to start my garden.  Now that’s something I can really get into.  I love to watch it grow.  There are not too many things more satisfying than watching that first sprout turn into a delicious meal.  This year we are planning to change the crops just a little.  More tomatoes and less cucumbers.  More peppers and less watermelons.  We also added some fruit trees this winter and they have already started to bud.  I don’t expect any fruit this year but it should be a good growing season.  The grapes and strawberries should be just enough to pick a few when the family is outside playing.

Spring reminds me of renewal. The plants sprout and the trees bud.  The flowers emerge from their winter slumber to add color and texture to our lives the same way that Jesus Christ emerged from the tomb to give us life.  His resurrection conquered death and gives us hope.  May you have a wonderful Easter and may you find the love of Jesus sprouting anew in your life.

Nice post! Gotta agree with you on cutting the grass–not my favorite job either.

Happy Easter and God bless you and your family as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus!
